  • Envy and destructiveness in the workplace
  • Leadership, power and authority in organisations

Seminar Series 1

The Unconscious at Work: Thinking Psychoanalytically about the Workplace

Summary of the seminars

We are living in uncertain times where organisations are constantly going through cuts, transitions and cycles of change in order to survive. These dynamics often resonate throughout the workplace and can affect a team’s capacity to function effectively. If these dynamics and the issues they give rise to such as envy and defensiveness are not considered and thought about they can damage team morale and performance, as well as affecting our work and our personal well-being.

Our six seminars will offer you an opportunity to explore organisational dynamics with like-minded peers in a confidential and supportive space.

Who can attend?

The seminars are open to anyone who is working in an organisation and wants to learn about how to be more effective in the workplace. We are looking for team members, managers and senior leaders. We welcome applications from all size companies and sectors and from a diverse range of working cultures and environments as this brings diversity and creativity, which adds to a learning experience.

If you’d like to contact us about the seminars then you can email or Telephone: 0785 9930713.

The seminars will help you to:

  • Think about the dynamics in your organisation and how these impact on you, your team, and your work
  • Share new perspectives and ideas to take back to your workplace
  • Explore ways of managing and addressing the issues in your team.
  • Understand different psychoanalytic perspectives on organisation dynamics

Format of the Seminar Series

Each seminar will follow the same, two-part structure.

In the first hour of each seminar one or two group members will present and lead a group discussion on an article relevant to the topic. In the second hour one group member will describe and introduce the group to their organisation.

It is intended that the subsequent discussion will be informed by the ideas and concepts explored in the first part of the seminar, as well as by the personal experience of participants.
